History
In 1997, Thompson Machinery Commerce Corporation, a Tennessee-based heavy equipment dealer, suffered the first and only on-the-job fatality in its then 54-year history. Thompson’s senior management, devastated by the accident, asked how they could do more in the areas of workforce safety and health — both for the welfare of employees and to improve business performance.
An innovative software solution created to enhance safety training proved so valuable that Thompson’s leaders felt called to make the technology available to other companies. They spun off PureSafety in April 1999 — and we’ve been expanding our results-driven software and information solutions for workforce safety and health ever since.
In 2006, PureSafety acquired PerDatum, expanding its capabilities for safety and case management. In 2008, PureSafety acquired Unique Software Solutions, Inc. and its Occupational Health Manager® (OHM) software suite. Launched in 1986, OHM was one of the first modular software packages to integrate detailed tracking and reporting tools for occupational health, medical and safety management.
PureSafety’s entire history has focused on helping customers gain peace of mind by improving safety, health and business performance. Our history is also one of innovation — from pioneering online training and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings like OHM and our Learning and Safety Management System (LSMS), to leading the way with software tools and expertise that facilitate emerging best practices. In 2009, we launched an ambitious plan to unite our solutions, and the professionals who use them, through one comprehensive, enterprise-wide suite. Our suite already offers single sign-on and other shared capabilities, and we are well on our way to a true, single-platform solution that will deliver even greater benefits in the future.
